Solubility: Standard silymarin-rich extracts are poorly soluble in water. They are generally better suited to dry formats, suspensions or formulated delivery systems than clear beverages. Dispersibility varies with particle size, carrier and processing method; bench testing is recommended.

Formulation note: Confirm sensory impact, colour, excipients and compatibility in the finished matrix. A higher numerical assay is not automatically the better commercial choice if the analytical method, marker definition or delivery format differs.

Is silymarin 80% by UV the same as 80% by HPLC?
No. UV and HPLC measure and report the extract differently. Compare like-for-like methods and request the chromatographic marker definition where needed.

Is milk thistle extract water soluble?
Most conventional silymarin-rich powders have limited water solubility. For beverages or liquid systems, discuss the required clarity, dispersion target and processing conditions before selecting a grade.
